Welcome to Seventy Seven Seas. Sustainable and recycled materials transformed into saints and mages, mermaids, tales of myth and folklore.
Each items is entirely hand made from scratch. Like the folklore that inspires the works, there are little differences in each piece. Sometimes the timber has signs of its former existence - this just adds another layer to the story.
The aluminium, when not mounted on board, is very thin so the pieces, though perfectly substantial are light and delicate. Vintage book pages are used to back the metal.
All packaging is recycled.
Driftwood Votives
Clay figures set into a hand-carved driftwood shrine. Each piece, part of a tree, old furniture, ancient woodwork, has come from somewhere, anywhere in the world, and has a story to tell. Now, housing its little figure, it has a new story to tell.
Ceramic Bells
Each bell is hand made, then bisque fired and tested for sound. Then it is painted as a one-off piece and glaze fired. All have a matching clapper. The examples here are customised with a name or short message - please contact me if you would like to commission a special bell. Or follow the link to browse what is currently in my shop.
Made to Order
Each of these items is made to order. They follow a repeat design, but as each is made by hand, from scratch, they are all unique. The metal is recycled from drinks cans. It is mounted onto recycled card or timber that would otherwise be scrap.
I am happy to undertake commissions - please contact me via the contact form.
